We've written a new game for the site, Hi-Lo. Play the beta now for your chance at mounds of points. If you've ever seen the game show Card Sharks, you'll have an idea how this works. If not, just read the rules and have fun.
I think it is cool I just went and had a play. btw are their going to be any other card games inthe future I like card games, and I like the risk in playing around with the points in ya account well done on another game
Hopefully. I won't promise anything, but now that the routines for shuffling and picking cards are in place, adding more should be a bit simpler. At least I'd like to think that, but haven't actually started any yet.
i have played a few times in high low and I love it! keep m comming!
I'd like one clarification on the game.
Is the card that was picked out put back into the card deck after it's been used (i.e. ar there always 52 cards) .. it matters a lot when you're deciding on the next move in the game.
Also I could swear the probabilities of the card picking are biast towards the higher cards (then again I do admit I'm just frustated <grin> having decided that using probability I'd earn lots of point and I ended up with 0 <grin> teaches me never to go to Vegas, at least not with a lot of money). I think a version of 21 would be fun and I think not that hard to write, it's definitely a simple but very cool game, good job you guys.
That's odd. I've seen a lot of lower cards when I played. The deck is shuffled at the beginning of the game, and not reshuffled. So if you see one ace, there's only 3 left for that game, etc.
I have to admit, I'm not an expert on card games, but here, is the ace one or 11? and king, jacks and queens are 10's aren't they? (the only card game I've played is 21 - or Blackjack - as some may know it by).
That's in Blackjack. Here, aces are high, 2s are low. the rest go in order.
Hello: I am enjoying this game very much and hope to see more card games in the future. Great work with this one.
Hey, I enjoyed this new game and I loose all my points to it lol. But is ok though. It's fun. hehehehe. Who ask me to be so greedy? lol.
But can I suggest something over here? Well, as you all said that ace is the highest and two is the lowest. Then why when it comes to two, and when I choose higher another two appear and it say is lower? Isn't it a bit unfare? Well, if the number came out twice or even three time or even four, I thought it should be draw or something? Which mean like for example, now the card is two, and after playing the first round, the next card comes out is another two, you all should let it be draw in another words which mean the point shouldn't be deducted since is the same number. I hope all of you can take this to consideration. Thanks.
Hey
I like the maximum bet restrictions, personally I think they should be even stricter (down to 5000) because of the way it's so easy to get a lot of points.
Cilbot, regarding the same card thing. It is extremely unlikely that you draw the same card twice but when it happens it represent a bit of the "house advantage" the game should have. See, if you draw a 2 and getting another 2 is a draw so you don't lose anything there is absolutely no risk in the game when a 2 or an ace is drawn and it makes the game a lot less exciting.
The only problem I have with this game (and it's minor) is that you can play an optimal strategy and once you figure it out you can rack up way too many points in a very short time period.
I would absolutely love to see an interactive version of the game where one user can play another.
The way I thought this might work would be something along the following:
A link that says "challenge user in multiplayer game" clicking on it would bring up a page that says "username" combobox where you can choose the user and then "amount of points you want to bet" and a "submit button"
Then the user you invited will get a message (probably with a slightly different audio clue to distinguish it from a quick not) saying (user x wants to challenge you to hi-lo betting y ponts, are you willing to do this?). If you answer yes the game starts. Sinc user x is the challenger he/she is dealt the first card, a card that both players see. Player y now needs to choose whether the next card is higher or lower. If the card is higher points will be deducted from player x and added to player y's account, if the card is lower the opposite happens. If the cards are even either half the challenging amount will be deducted from both players or no action is taken, I think the points should be deducted to create the sense of risk in the game.
Of course I don't have the access to the code and it's up to our administrators to decide whether this idea is feasible in terms of planning and implementing it but I'd be curious to see if anyone else thinks this might be a fun experience.

Just changed it back to when you win the first time, you now win points instead of just breaking even and having to win twice to get ahead.
Thanks admin for changing it back. I know some people thought it was more risky the other way, but I personally like it this way. I also second wildebrew's idea for an interactive version of high low.
Hmmm, ya, but now it's a bit easy again to rack up points. Anyone have an idea for a fair way to do it?
That game is risky no matter what! I LOVE THE GAM#! Hey what about a 21 game? Blackjack! Well the only gripe I have with hi/lo is that a few times today I got the same card deal. Like I'll get a Ace and I'll go lower and still get a Ace. It'll say "Another Ace" Or whatever number. I was wondering if that could be like a freebie or something? Because you can't have hi, low and same cause the game is called hi/lo.
Hmm, there are a couple of ideas that come to mind.
Put a 5000 point limit on ech game. Also increase the downside risk.
Here's my idea:
First time you play and you win you win back your points + 5000 points (assuming you bet 5000), you can now chooose to check out with 5000 points or play again.
Now when you play again you could possibly win 10000 points (5000 * 2) or lose 7500 points (5000 *1.5),
third time you could win 15000 pts or you can lose 10000 points (i.e. the down side risk always increases by half the upside risk).
I still think the point system is disproportionate to the points you can win in other games so , in theory, a much riskier version of the game could be created with higher odds. Let me think of some more specific plans and I'll post my ideas. :)
Just some ideas mind you, don't know if people like them or not.

I like these ideas. I actually thought of this before, but didn't really know how to word it. I guess, the saying goes: great minds think alike. *smiles*
Ok, here is a rethought scenario.
Basically the idea is that it should be harder for you to win a lot of points than just a few points, which is totally logical. How can you do this? Well, combine it with the fact that the probability of multiple wins is less than the probability of a single win (and the probabilities of you winning e.g. 3 times are only 0.125 if the chances are 50/50 for each subsequent win).
So why not have it something like "who wants to be a millionaire" you can only bet a small amount, say 2000, and you stand to lose the 2000 or win it, if you win and decide to bet again then you can win 2 *2000 (4000) points, if you lose you just lose 2000 ... basically always multiply the initial bet by 2 and that's the amount you can win, but if you lose you lose your initial bet .. this way e.g. if someone happens to win 10 times in a row they can actually win over a million points, but the chances of that happening are something like 300 or 400 to 1 (I don't feel like calculating the exact thing) But this way it's actually hard to win a lot of points and that way people can't just rack up points just by sitting there and plyaing multiple times, they actually have to be lucky but still they can win a fair amount of points.
Would this idea have any takers? This is sort of like the "who wants to be a millionaire" concept.
